About Virnau Sealy Tractor
The Story of W.A. Virnau & Sons, and Sealy Tractor
The Virnau family moved to Sealy and began farming in 1944. Walter Virnau, Jr. started the Virnau Machine Shop in 1958 in Sealy, where they maintained their own equipment in addition to fabricating cattle guards, flag poles, land planes, and diving into most anything else associated with steel and fabrication. In 1961, Walter, his brother Harry, and their father Walter Virnau, Sr. established the Massey Ferguson dealership W.A. Virnau and Sons.
The company continued to grow through the years while supporting the large commercial rice farms in the area. They moved to their current location in 1973 which included a new 20,000 square foot facility on 14 acres. Since then, the facility has grown to over 100,000 square feet.
As large scale commercial farming was on the decline in the early 1990s, the business focus shifted to small-scale farming, ranching, and lawn equipment. W.A. Virnau and Sons purchased Sealy Tractor, a long-time neighbor and friendly competitor, in 1997. Because our business has evolved to accommodate an ever-changing community, our diverse family now includes a mix of commercial ranchers, commercial hay-producers, weekend farmers, and hobby ranchers. Today, going by the name Virnau Sealy Tractor, we have 17 full-time employees including a third-generation Virnau at the helm, Owner and General Manager Jeff Virnau. In 2017, Jeff and his wife, Melissa, purchased the company from his mother, Kathryn.
Virnau Sealy Tractor is truly a family-run business.
